Automated alerting functions significantly lower the workload of operators. These functions cover the entire area under surveillance and not just the areas an Operator has currently under view.
The V3000 Vessel Traffic Services System provides a large collection of alerts, for example against:
- unidentified tracks in designated areas,
- violations of guard zones/guard lines,
- route deviations,
- violations of speed limit,
- unauthorised anchoring.
There are two types of alerts: state-based and event-based. Event-based alerts end when the operator acknowledges them. State-based alerts continue their visual presentation until the alert condition ends, for example when a track leaves a guard zone.
The system provides full sectorisation support, which avoids operators from being distracted by alerts in sectors other than their own.
